Why Ariana Nexus

How we deliver, and how we are different

One firm, one accountable lead, and the people who know the language and the subject.

The only firm with such a team, compliance, coverage, community network, scholars and knowledge, along with lived experience.

  1. 01

One point of accountability, all in-house

Every engagement is delivered in-house by Ariana Nexus people, under NDA, with one accountable lead. No subcontractors, referrals or brokered specialists.

  2. 02

Matched by language, dialect, region and gender

Interpreters are matched by language, exact dialect, region and interpreter gender. Medical assignments go to interpreters whose degree is close to medicine.

  3. 03

    Scholars and alumni, not bilinguals

Every interpreter is a college graduate qualified to a seven-part standard. We won’t send you a bilingual.

  4. 04

Setting the standard where no certification exists

No national, language-specific interpreter certification exam exists in the United States for Pashto or Dari. Ariana Nexus sets that standard: it qualifies and trains its own interpreters and trains interpreters for other organizations.

  5. 05

    Language plus domain expertise

Language work is done by people who know the subject: medicine, law, AI, tax and research.

  6. 06

    The Afghanistan boundary

We do not route documents, data or inquiries through channels controlled by the de facto authorities in Afghanistan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What services does Ariana Nexus provide?

Ariana Nexus is a Washington, D.C. consulting and professional services firm for work involving Afghanistan, the Afghan diaspora and the Afghan languages. It provides interpreting, certified translation, AI data and evaluation, legal and expert services, compliance consulting, research, training, and tax and business services across healthcare, technology and AI, legal, government, education and private enterprise.

Which Afghan languages do you work in?

Pashto, Dari and 22 more Afghan languages, including Uzbeki, Turkmeni, Balochi, Pashayi, the Nuristani languages and the Pamir languages. We also work in English and 13 international languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Turkish and Swedish. Interpreters are matched by dialect, region and gender.

Is Dari the same as Farsi?

Dari and Iranian Farsi are both forms of Persian and are largely mutually intelligible, but they differ in vocabulary, pronunciation, official terms and document conventions. Ariana Nexus translates into Afghanistan Dari, not Iranian Persian, so documents read correctly for Afghan readers.

Do you provide certified Pashto and Dari translation for USCIS and courts?

Yes. We provide certified English translations of Afghan documents, including tazkiras, birth and marriage certificates (nikah khat), diplomas, transcripts and court records, with the translator’s certification of competence and accuracy that USCIS requires under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3).

Can Ariana Nexus provide an expert witness or a country conditions report on Afghanistan?

Yes. We prepare Afghanistan country conditions expert reports for asylum, withholding of removal and Convention Against Torture cases, and provide expert analysis and testimony on Afghan civil documents and identity records, including tazkiras, nikah khat, passports and birth certificates. We also prepare document unavailability and secondary evidence reports, and expert declarations on Afghan marriage, mahr and custody.

Do you provide Pashto and Dari interpreters for government agencies and schools?

Yes. We provide interpreters in Pashto, Dari and 22 more Afghan languages for federal, state and local agencies and for school districts, including IEP meetings, enrollment and parent-teacher conferences. We also translate public notices, forms, voter guides, emergency alerts, IEPs and parent notices.

Can you provide Pashto and Dari data and evaluation for AI models?

Yes. Native-speaker teams build training data (text, speech and preference data), evaluate large language models, red-team AI systems for safety, and test speech recognition and machine translation in Pashto, Dari and 22 more Afghan languages.

Do you offer accounting and tax services for Afghan-owned businesses and families?

Yes. We prepare business and individual tax returns, keep books, run payroll, and handle ITIN applications and FBAR filings, with explanations in Pashto and Dari.

How do you qualify Pashto and Dari interpreters when no certification exam exists?

No national, language-specific interpreter certification exam exists in the United States for Pashto or Dari. Every Ariana Nexus interpreter meets a seven-part standard: a college degree, a dual-language assessment in the exact variety they interpret, structured interpreter training, NCIHC ethics, annual HIPAA training, supervised entry and periodic review. We also assess and train bilingual staff for health systems and courts.

How do you protect confidential and sensitive information?

Every engagement is delivered in-house by Ariana Nexus people, under NDA, and never subcontracted. Healthcare work runs under a business associate agreement signed before the first encounter. Sessions are not recorded by default, and interpreters on U.S. assignments are located in the United States. We do not route documents, data or inquiries through channels controlled by the de facto authorities in Afghanistan.

Where do you work?

Ariana Nexus is headquartered at 1717 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. We work across all 50 U.S. states and in Canada, Europe and Australia, depending on the type and scale of the project. On-site interpreting is arranged nationwide, and video interpreting is available in all 24 Afghan languages.
