AI Language Specialist, Afghan Languages

About the role

Our AI Data Factory hires AI language specialists for every one of our 24 Afghan languages: Pashto, Dari, Aimaq, Balochi, Ormuri, Parachi, Wakhi, Shughni, Sanglechi, Ishkashimi, Munji, Yidgha, Uzbeki, Turkmeni, Kyrgyz, Pashayi, Gawarbati, Tirahi, Nuristani (Ashkun group), Kati, Prasun, Waigali, Tregami and Brahui. The work helps AI systems understand Afghan languages accurately and safely.

What you will do

• Evaluate the answers of large language models (LLMs) for accuracy, fluency, safety and cultural fit.
• Red-team AI systems: write prompts that expose harmful, false or culturally wrong answers.
• Write and annotate training and benchmark data.
• Transcribe and review speech data for speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS).

What you bring

• A bachelor’s degree.
• Professional proficiency in at least one Afghan language, and in English.
• Strong reading and writing in the script your language uses.
• Careful, consistent judgment against written guidelines.
• Located in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain or Australia.

Preferred

• A master’s degree in linguistics, computational linguistics, computer science or a related field.
• Experience with LLM evaluation, data annotation or speech data.

Pay and benefits

$30–$60 an hour, by language and task. This is an independent contractor engagement, paid for the work you do, so it does not include employee benefits. We never ask about your current or past pay.
