Certified Transcript, Diploma and Academic Record Translation for Afghan Students and Professionals
Certified, word-for-word translations of Afghan school certificates, university transcripts and degrees — from Pashto, Dari and 22 more Afghan languages — prepared to the published rules of WES, USCIS, IRCC, universities, school districts and licensing boards.
A complete, word-for-word translation of a transcript, diploma or certificate — every grade, seal, stamp and signature — with the translator's signed statement that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent in both languages. For Afghan records, it also means reading the calendar, the script and the era of the document correctly.
The team behind every certified translation
Afghan scholars, not bilinguals. The people who lead this service studied at Cornell University, the University of Chicago, the University of British Columbia and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

How we translate Afghan academic records: the 12-point record check
There is no ATA certification in Pashto or Dari, so we wrote and publish our own standard. Every Afghan academic record we certify passes all twelve checks.
- 01Every page, front and backNothing on a record is left untranslated.
- 02Every seal, stamp and signature describedWhere it appears, in brackets, with its wording.
- 03Handwriting transcribedAnything illegible is marked as illegible, never guessed.
- 04The calendar identifiedSolar Hijri, lunar Hijri or Gregorian — before any date is converted.
- 05Every date shown twiceAs issued, and in the Gregorian calendar.
- 06Names matched to your passportWith the original script kept beside each name.
- 07Grades exactly as issuedWith the grading scale printed on the document.
- 08Course titles kept consistentThe same subject is translated the same way on every document.
- 09Institutions named correctlySchools, universities and ministries in their established English names.
- 10Letterheads as printedTranslated exactly as they appear, in every era.
- 11A second linguist reviewsEvery page, before certification.
- 12Certified to your receiving body's ruleUSCIS certificate, IRCC affidavit or Home Office elements.
How it works: from upload to certified delivery
- Send the recordsUpload scans or clear photos of every page, front and back, through our secure portal, and tell us where they are going.
- We confirm the ruleWe check the receiving body's current translation requirement before we quote.
- Fixed quoteWithin one business day. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- TranslationBy an Afghan-native linguist assigned by the record's language and era.
- Second-linguist reviewAgainst the 12-point record check; terminology questions go to the Cultural Compliance Bureau.
- Certified deliverySigned PDF, hard copies by FedEx, and notarization or affidavit where required — sent directly to the institution on request.
Why translations of Afghan transcripts and diplomas get sent back
Evaluators, admissions offices and licensing boards send back translations of Afghan records for a small number of reasons. Every one of them is preventable.
- The wrong calendarDates converted from the wrong calendar or with the wrong year.We identify the calendar first and show every date twice.
- Iranian month namesAfghan months written as Iranian months — Farvardin instead of Hamal.Afghan month names, in Pashto and in Dari.
- Names that don't matchOne name spelled three ways across the passport, the tazkira and the diploma. One name key for your file, matched to your passport.
- Missing back pagesAttestation stamps and endorsements on the reverse left out.Every page, front and back.
- Invented grade conversionsA translator "converts" Afghan grades into a GPA.Grades exactly as issued; the evaluator converts.
- Iranian Persian termsDari records translated by Iranian Persian speakers who misread Afghan school terms.Afghan-native Pashto and Dari linguists.
- Edited letterheadsLetterheads rewritten, omitted or "corrected".Every letterhead translated exactly as printed.
- The wrong certificationNo translator's statement, no affidavit, or missing contact details.Certification formatted to the receiving body's rule.
Afghan Dari is not Iranian Persian
Afghan records use Afghan words. Many academic terms in Afghan Dari come from Pashto, and a translator trained on Iranian Persian will misread them.
Solar Hijri and lunar Hijri dates
Afghan records are dated in the Solar Hijri calendar with Afghan month names. Records issued between 1996 and 2001 often carry lunar Hijri dates instead, and so may records issued since 2022 under the de facto authorities. We identify the calendar before converting anything, and every date appears twice.

Why Ariana Nexus for Afghan transcript and diploma translation
The United States has no certification for Pashto or Dari translators: ATA offers no exam in either language, and its only Persian exam is listed as unavailable. So we own that part. We wrote and publish the standard, and we train our own linguists, and interpreters beyond our firm, in Afghan languages. In the United States, we are that authority.

What this service does not do
- We translate records. We do not evaluate credentials or convert grades — evaluators do.
- We do not obtain, verify or attest documents in Afghanistan.
- We never alter, complete or "improve" a record. If a page is missing, the translation says so.
- We are not an admissions agent. We do not write applications or choose universities.
- Where a receiving body requires a sworn or authorized translator, we tell you before you order.
Security, privacy and compliance for student records
Academic records carry a person's name, family, schooling and, for many Afghan women, a history that is dangerous to expose. We handle them that way.

When Afghan academic records can't be obtained
Since 2021, WES has said it cannot verify academic documents from Afghanistan. Many records were lost in the war or left behind in the evacuation, and schooling has been cut off for millions of Afghan girls and women. Recognition routes now exist for exactly this.

Background Paper
We translate everything you do have — partial transcripts, student cards, enrollment letters, photos of certificates — and prepare a document inventory and a name and date key: the file these routes ask for. When a recognition or admissions interview allows an interpreter, we provide one in Pashto, Dari or another Afghan language.
Many of the Afghan professionals we work with carry the moral trauma of the Afghan war and of the careers it interrupted. Our intake asks only what a translation needs — never for your story.
Pashto, Dari and 22 more Afghan languages — into English and 13 other languages
Afghan academic records are issued mostly in Pashto, Dari and English. We translate those, records in every other Afghan language, and records Afghans earned abroad — in Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Russian and Arabic.

Frequently asked questions about Afghan transcript and diploma translation
What is a certified translation of an Afghan transcript or diploma?
A complete, word-for-word English translation of the record — every grade, seal, stamp, signature and handwritten note — with the translator's signed statement that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from Pashto or Dari. For Afghan records it also means identifying the calendar, matching names to your passport and translating the letterhead exactly as printed.
Does WES accept translations of Afghan documents, and can I translate my own?
Yes, when they are exact, word-for-word translations prepared by a professional translator — WES does not accept translations applicants make themselves. Since 2021, WES has said it cannot verify academic documents from Afghanistan and refers applicants to its Gateway Program, which accepts partial documentation. We translate for both routes and check WES's current requirements before we quote.
Do I need a notarized translation for USCIS?
No. Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), USCIS requires a full English translation and the translator's certification that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate. Notarization is not required. Some universities and foreign authorities do ask for it, so we provide notarized certificates on request.
What does IRCC require for translations of Afghan documents?
IRCC accepts translations by a certified translator who belongs to a Canadian provincial or territorial translators' organization, or by a translator who swears an affidavit before a notary public. You and your relatives may not translate. For Canadian files we provide the translation with the translator's sworn affidavit.
Is there a U.S. certification for Pashto or Dari translators?
No. The American Translators Association offers no certification exam in Pashto or Dari, and its only Persian exam is listed as unavailable. USCIS does not require one: it asks for the translator's certification that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate. So we own that part — the published 12-point record check, a second linguist on every certified translation, and the training we give our own linguists, and interpreters beyond our firm, in Afghan languages.
How do you convert Solar Hijri and lunar Hijri dates on Afghan documents?
We identify the calendar before converting anything. Most Afghan records use the Solar Hijri calendar with Afghan month names — Wray to Kab in Pashto, Hamal to Hut in Dari — not the Iranian names. Records from 1996 to 2001 often carry lunar Hijri dates, and so may records issued since 2022. Every date appears twice in our translation: as issued, and in the Gregorian calendar.
My name is spelled differently on my passport, tazkira and diploma. What happens?
We build one name key for your file: every name, the parent line (son of or daughter of) and every place name, matched to the spelling in your passport, with the original script kept beside it. We never change the record — if two documents disagree, the translation shows exactly what each one says.
Can you get my documents verified or attested in Afghanistan?
No. We do not contact, or route anything through, offices controlled by the de facto authorities in Afghanistan — for your safety and your family's. If you cannot obtain your records, we translate everything you do have and prepare the file that routes such as the WES Gateway Program, the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees and the UNESCO Qualifications Passport ask for.
Can an Afghan diploma be apostilled?
No. Afghanistan is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Afghan records cannot carry an apostille. What can be apostilled is our notarized certificate of translation, by the U.S. office that commissioned the notary. When a receiving body abroad asks for an apostille, we arrange it, and we confirm first whether it is needed at all.
Do you convert Afghan grades to a U.S. GPA?
No. Grade conversion is the credential evaluator's job, and translations that convert grades are a common reason files are sent back. We reproduce every grade exactly as issued, with the grading scale printed on the document, so WES, ECE or your university can evaluate it.
What are a Shahadatnama, a Se-Parcha and a Kankor result?
The Shahadatnama is the 12th Grade Graduation Certificate, which evaluators also call the Baccalaureate. The Se-Parcha is the marks sheet for grades 10, 11 and 12. The Kankor result shows a student's score and placement in Afghanistan's national university entrance examination. Evaluators usually ask for the Shahadatnama and the grades 10–12 marks together.
Is "Afghani" a language?
No — the afghani is Afghanistan's currency. The languages most people mean are Pashto and Dari, Afghanistan's two official languages, both written in Arabic-based scripts. We translate records in Pashto, Dari and 22 more Afghan languages, and the records Afghans earned in Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye and the former Soviet Union.
Do you translate Afghan records for Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden or other European countries?
Yes. Italy's CIMEA asks for an accurate, complete translation by a qualified translator, and UK ENIC asks for a certified translation. Germany's uni-assist, the Netherlands' IDW and Sweden's UHR require a sworn or authorized translator when a record is not in an accepted language, and each sets its own rule on who qualifies. We confirm the rule before you order, so you never pay for a translation a receiving body will not accept.
How long does it take, and how is it priced?
Most individual files are delivered in three business days, with priority delivery in 24 to 48 hours. Institutional programs run on agreed service levels. Every quote is fixed in advance and depends on page count, languages, handwriting, the certification your receiving body requires and how you want it delivered. You receive your quote within one business day.
Do you work with schools, universities and credential evaluators?
Yes. For schools and universities we work as a school official under your direct control under FERPA, sign the SDPC National Data Privacy Agreement or your state's agreement, and deliver batch files through a secure portal, with a machine-readable course and grade file on request. Ariana Nexus is registered in SAM.gov and as a vendor in 37 states.
Do you use machine translation or AI?
Not in any certified translation. Every certified translation is produced and reviewed by two human linguists. Software supports secure intake and consistency checks, and your documents are never used to train AI models.
